Invisalign
Invisalign treatment uses a planned series of clear, removable aligners to move teeth gradually. The appeal is easy to understand: the aligners are less visually noticeable than traditional brackets and can be removed for eating and oral hygiene. But successful clear-aligner treatment depends on much more than wearing a transparent tray.

The teeth and bite first need to be evaluated to determine whether aligners can accomplish the required movement predictably and whether your oral health is ready for orthodontic treatment.
What Can Invisalign Treat?
Clear aligners can be used for many cases involving crowding, spacing, and selected bite relationships. The amount and type of movement required determine whether Invisalign is a reasonable option.
Some orthodontic problems are more complex than others. Tooth position, jaw relationships, periodontal health, existing restorations, missing teeth, previous orthodontic treatment, and patient cooperation can all affect the plan.
What Happens at an Invisalign Evaluation?
- Discuss what you want to change about tooth position, spacing, or bite.
- Examine the teeth, gums, bite, and jaw relationships.
- Collect digital scans, photographs, and imaging when clinically indicated for orthodontic planning.
- Determine whether clear aligners, traditional braces, or another approach is appropriate.
- Review the planned responsibilities of treatment, including aligner wear, appointments, oral hygiene, and retention afterward.
How Do Clear Aligners Move Teeth?
Each aligner is designed to apply controlled forces to selected teeth as part of a staged movement plan. You progress through the prescribed aligner sequence while the dental team monitors whether the teeth are tracking as expected.
Small tooth-colored attachments may be placed on selected teeth when the treatment plan needs additional control. Other orthodontic mechanics can also be incorporated depending on the case.
Removable Does Not Mean Optional
One of the biggest differences between aligners and braces is that aligners depend heavily on patient wear. They can be removed for eating, drinking anything other than appropriate beverages as instructed, brushing, and flossing—but they need to be worn according to the prescribed schedule for treatment to progress.
Frequently leaving aligners out can delay movement, affect fit, and change the treatment sequence. If consistent wear will be difficult, fixed braces may deserve consideration.
Eating, Drinking, and Cleaning With Invisalign
Remove aligners as instructed for meals and clean your teeth before putting them back when practical. Food or sugary/acidic liquids trapped against teeth can increase oral-health concerns, and aligners themselves need regular cleaning.
Avoid using very hot water to clean aligners because heat can distort some plastics. Follow the care instructions provided with your specific aligner system.
Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces
Clear aligners are removable and visually discreet, while traditional braces are fixed to the teeth and do not depend on remembering to put an appliance back in after meals. Each system has advantages and limitations depending on the movements required and the patient’s ability to follow treatment instructions.
The better choice is the one that can accomplish the orthodontic goals predictably for your bite—not simply the appliance you prefer before the evaluation.
Retainers Are Part of the Treatment
Teeth can shift after active orthodontic movement. Retainers help maintain the new tooth positions while the surrounding tissues adapt and are typically part of the long-term orthodontic plan.
Do not think of the last aligner as the end of all orthodontic responsibility. Ask what retainer type, wear schedule, replacement plan, and follow-up will be recommended for your case.
What If You Have Cavities or Gum Disease?
Active dental disease should be addressed before or alongside orthodontic planning as appropriate. Moving teeth while oral hygiene is poor or gum disease is uncontrolled can create additional problems.
An Invisalign consultation therefore includes more than checking whether the teeth look crowded. The health of the teeth and supporting tissues matters throughout treatment. Moss Dental Studio currently publishes Invisalign information at Invisalign clear aligners.

Questions Patients Ask
How many hours a day do you wear Invisalign?
Wear time should follow the prescription for your individual Invisalign plan. Consistent daily wear is important because aligners only apply their planned forces while they are on the teeth.
Can you eat with Invisalign aligners in?
Aligners are generally removed for meals according to treatment instructions. Removing them also makes it easier to clean the teeth before reinserting the aligners.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Pressure or temporary tenderness can occur when teeth begin moving or when changing to a new aligner. Severe or unexpected pain should be discussed with the dental team.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Treatment time varies with the type and amount of tooth movement, bite correction, patient wear, biological response, and whether refinements are needed.
Is Invisalign faster than braces?
Not automatically. Treatment time depends on the orthodontic problem and how predictably the chosen appliance can accomplish the required movements.
Do you need retainers after Invisalign?
Yes, retention is generally part of orthodontic care because teeth can shift after active movement. Your provider should prescribe a retainer plan for your case.

An Exclusive Invitation
Your transformation is an investment in yourself. To welcome you to the Moss Dental Studio family, we invite all new patients to schedule a personalized Invisalign consultation with our team.
Experience modern, comfortable dentistry and the confidence of a beautifully aligned smile.
Most patients adapt to their aligners within a day or two. While you might notice a very slight lisp initially as your tongue adjusts, it typically vanishes quickly. Because the aligners are virtually invisible and removable, you can continue to lead meetings, attend social events, and enjoy your favorite meals without anyone even noticing you’re in treatment.
At Moss Dental Studio, we prioritize your comfort. While you may feel some light pressure for the first few hours after switching to a new set of aligners, it’s a sign that your teeth are moving precisely as planned. Unlike metal braces, there are no sharp brackets or wires to cause irritation to your cheeks or gums, making this a much more soothing experience.
We value your time. One of the greatest luxuries of Invisalign is that it requires fewer adjustment appointments than traditional orthodontics. Usually, we’ll see you every 6 to 8 weeks just to ensure your transformation is progressing perfectly and to give you your next series of bespoke aligners.
Want Straighter Teeth Without Committing to an Appliance Before You Know Your Options?
Clear aligners can be an excellent fit for some alignment and bite concerns, but the right orthodontic plan depends on the movements your teeth actually need and how well the appliance fits your lifestyle.
Schedule an Invisalign evaluation so Moss Dental Studio can assess your teeth and bite, explain whether clear aligners can accomplish your goals, and compare them with other orthodontic options when appropriate.
